My maiden name is Levenshulme and I believe my father came from the area.
He was Maurice John Levenshulme and would have been born around 1908.
He was always very reticent about his antecedents so we have almost no information on his family except that he had an elder sister and his mother died when he was about 9 years old.
His father may (or may not) have owned\run\or taught at a private school.
I would very much like to hear from anyone else with the same surname or anyone with any information on my family.

My surname is also Levenshulme.
I live in Atlantic Canada and my Great-Grandfather's name was also Maurice Levenshulme.
I have been trying to get information about my great grand-father now for quite some time.
If you could tell me your mothers name it would be a tremendous help in my search.
Thank-you

Don't know if it's of any interest, but according to my book, the name Levenshulme derives from Leofwine's hulme. Leofwine being a person's name and hulme being a Danish word for water meadow.

Very interesting, the Danish connection would have been due to Viking invaders/settlers?

What is the name of your book and where would I be able to purchase a copy?
