Does anybody know why they terminated the tram lines that ran across Stockport Rd?

I wish they were still there at times?

There were many tram lines in Levenshulme leading to the large tram depot that used to be on Birchfields Rd. The depot was on the site at the beginning of Birchfields Rd where the shops and Burger King now are.

The trams were got rid of because they were considered old fashioned and an antiquated form of transport.

Manchester also used to have buses known as Trolleybuses that drove on rubber wheels instead of rails like trams and trains, but got their power from overhead wires similar as to the ones you can see above railways.
